The Beginning

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

There is only one way to say this. John 11:25

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+11&version=NIV

21 “Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.”

23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”

24 Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

27 “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

The question is, what did Jesus mean by it? If I believe in Jesus, is it true that I will never die?

The main question we have to answer, after we accept or reject the message of Jesus is, "What is God really like and what does He want from us?" Why He? Because God told Jesus, and Jesus told us, that that is how God wants us to address him.

So here is a brief history of God from my perspective.

In the beginning there was a big bang, and before that God, but we didn't know anything about God back then. Eventually the Dinosaurs evolved. A little about evolution. We know that bacteria multiply and evolve, even developing strains resistant to antibiotics, so why shoud we reject evolution. I have always believed from an early age that evolution was the process by which we got here. So at waht stage did I begin believing in God? Realistically, honestly, only after my father died, in 1982, and then I became really angry, not that God exists, but that I had wasted so much of my life not living with that reality, but more of that later.

Enter the Tuatara

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuatara

The tuatara are reptiles endemic to New Zealand and which, although resembling most lizards, are part of a distinct lineage, order Rhynchocephalia.[1] The two species of tuatara are the only surviving members of their order, which flourished around 200 million years ago.[2] Their most recent common ancestor with any other extant group is with the squamates (lizards and snakes). For this reason, tuatara are of great interest in the study of the evolution of lizards and snakes, and for the reconstruction of the appearance and habits of the earliest diapsids (the group that also includes birds, dinosaurs, and crocodiles).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinosaur

Dinosaurs are a diverse group of animals of the clade Dinosauria. They first appeared during the Triassic period, 231.4 million years ago, and were the dominant terrestrial vertebrates for 135 million years, from the beginning of the Jurassic (about 201 million years ago) until the end of the Cretaceous (66 million years ago), when the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event led to the extinction of most dinosaur groups at the close of the Mesozoic Era. The fossil record indicates that birds evolved from theropod dinosaurs during the Jurassic Period and, consequently, they are considered a subgroup of dinosaurs by many paleontologists.[1] Some birds survived the extinction event that occurred 66 million years ago, and their descendants continue the dinosaur lineage to the present day.[2]

There is a good question to keep in mind. How do we know any of this is true? I'm speaking more about what I am about to say, rather than the fossil record, because I'm not so paranoid that I think the whole archialogical record is fake, as some creationists would have you believe, but I do believe it is possible that God can do anything.

So how old do I think I am? At least 66 million years, because that was the end of the Dinosaus. Before that had been the Tuatara. What was the inportant event of evolution? To me it must have been language. Tuataras are related to snakes and lizards. That is they descend from a common ancestor.
